I’m not the best magician so to speak, but I was wondering if someone knew some simple tricks that could still shock someone, or that the secret is not so obvious. Something that will really make them think! Not TOO difficult though please! If it’s on a site, just put the link please, or if it’s one of your own secrets, type it up step by step please. Thank you so much!

Sawing a lady in half. That’s an easy trick, right?

Card trick… take a pack of cards, flip the bottom card upside down, so now it is face up against the rest of the pack (which is face down). Now go to your mark, get them to select a card from the pack by fanning the cards out (careful not to show the up-turned bottom card). Then as they look at the card and memorize it, just casually turn the deck over. Now, all the cards are face up except the bottom (now top) card which is face down.

Now get them to place the card back in the deck (face down in the upturned deck, which of course they don’t know about – they think they are simply pushing the card face down in a face down deck). By simply turning the deck upside down again, you now have a facedown deck, with the bottom card and the mark’s card turned upward. Tell the person you are going to make their card jump up spin around and land back in the deck upside down, so fast that they won’t be able to see it. Then do, 1, 2, 3 abracadabra and start slowly fanning the cards from the top. Ask the mark what his card was and then voila, it appears face up among the other cards.

Of course stop the fanning before you get to the bottom card, or if you think they might be on to you, clumsily drop a couple cards from the bottom before you fan out the result.

Simple trick, but requires practice in how you present it. Most people I used to do it on were surprised and oblivious how it was done (some thought i must have done some flipping of the card itself)

Good Luck
Peace

Another card trick:

Okay, this is kind of long and complicated to explain, but once you get the hang of this, it is very simple and EXTREMELY effective. So bear with me–it will be worth it, I promise.

For this trick, you will need 21 cards. Fan them out and ask your subject to pick one without telling you what it is. Don’t let them touch the cards, only look at them. Deal the cards, face up, into 3 piles of seven. (One card in the first pile, one card in the second pile, one card in the third pile. Keep going until you use up all the cards. If you just take cards from the top and put them down in one pile, the trick won’t work.) Ask your subject what pile their card is in. Pick up that pile and sandwich it between the other two. Repeat this step 3 times.

Now, deal the cards facedown into four piles (again, using the method outlined above). One pile will have more cards than the rest. That’s okay.

Now, I don’t know exactly how this works, but EVERY TIME you attempt this trick, your subject’s card will be in the 3rd pile. Ask them to pick 2 piles. If they don’t pick the third pile, take away the ones that they picked. If they do, take away the ones they didn’t pick. Ask them to pick one of the remaining 2 piles. Again, what ever they pick, don’t take off the 3rd pile. Trust me, they won’t know the difference.

Deal the five remaining cards, face down. Their card is the one in the middle. Again, ask them to pick two cards. If they pick the card in the middle, take away the three other cards. If the card in the middle is not included in their choices, take away the cards that they picked. Do the same with the remaining cards, until there is only 1 card left (the one that was in the middle.) Ask them to flip over the card and…voila! They’ve found their card!

Or, if that was too complicated, you could always try THIS:

Ask a person to pick a card, memorize it, and put it back in the pile. Now, put on the drama and act like a magician. Pick a random card and show it to them. When they tell you that it’s not their card, insist that it is. Continue until your subject is thoroughly convinced of your magical genius (or until they walk out of the room in disgust, shunning you for the rest of your life…or until their brains blow up, taking with them everything within a 90 mile radius, or…) Okay, you get the picture. Either way, you win!

Have fun!
