A sly hand is not something a person is born with, not that you were implying that. Having done magic shows for quite some time I can tell you that it just takes a lot of practice. A lot. I'd spend hours working on one trick/illusion/manipulation in front of a mirror until I could "fool" myself. No one is closer to the trick than the magician and if you can't "see" it, then your audience can't either. There are many "trick" coins available; varying in cost based on material. "Johnson" makes the best coins I know of. If there is another that has better action than a Johnson, I'd like to know about it.

Find a copy of Henry Hay's book Amateur Magician's Handbook, and learn the French Drop. Don was right about Johnson making some of the best coins, but if you learn some sleight of hand you won't need trick coins. And if you use the sleights, when you do use special coins it will be even more amazing.
